You have a Purpose.
Definition of the word purpose:
noun:
To have purpose sounds really appealing, doesn’t it, but what happens when the world changes so drastically, and that reason no longer exists or is unclear? Does that mean you have no purpose, or possibly, is there a deeper calling for you?
Go beyond the definition of the word.
Are you putting limitations on your purpose, and how it is to be fulfilled? That could be one of the difficulties. If your purpose reaches no further than a means to an end, could the real you be hiding? Imagine the adventure of an expanded view and see your God-given gifts.
You still have a purpose.
We all have challenges which add to the stirring pot for our creative growth. When this occurs, one must decide how to respond to the challenge. Have you experienced a situation such as this:
There comes a challenge,
- You become desperate.
- You seek out help.
- read books
- go to seminars
- listen to music for peace of mind
- go to groups and organizations to find community
- You finally find out you have a purpose.
- You get frustrated because the purpose is hard to nail down.
- Life returns to where you become desperate.
Please, do not think I am discounting any of the above items, because within each step, help can be found. I am saying the discovery is a walk much deeper. An essential participant in discovering your role is always reaching out to you.
“Can you trust Me?”
We try to discover or even walk out our own purpose without ever considering that God has wonderful plans for us. Reread Psalm 139 :13-14 in the VOICE.
You knitted me together in my mother’s womb long before I took my first breath. 13 For You shaped me inside and out. 14 I will offer my grateful heart, for I am Your unique creation, filled with wonder and awe, You have approached even the smallest details with excellence: Your works are wonderful: I carry this knowledge deep within my soul.
Psalm 139:13-14 Voice
During the past year, questions concerning “what is my purpose?” have attacked people in ways never before conceived. Our pastor used a good word to describe how life has become with all of its changes and adaptations since the virus hit. Life has become:
Dislocated.
Take time, be still and listen.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
Psalm 46:10-11 NIV
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Be open to receive a deeper purpose.
Give yourself permission to feel, even though life is dislocated. Don’t run from it. It is very hard to continue the walk in the same manner as when you first started your walk with God.
David, the king in the Old Testament, thought he was just going to be a shepherd all of his life, and his purpose turned into shepherding God’s people.
Men whose purpose in life went from being simple fishermen to following an itinerant rabbi, which eventually led to changing the course of history.
One young couple, who were engaged to be married, and their purpose was to live a simple life devoted to each other and to God. God changed all of that when His purpose was for Mary to be the mother of His Son and for Joseph to help raise Him.
You have a purpose that is grander than you can imagine. Even though you may not be able to put all of the pieces together right now, there is One you can go to for the peace you are looking for. Don’t construct your own game plan.
Try this instead.
I know God has a purpose. Slow down, spend quiet time with Him to find out this special calling for you. Then you will be:
Free to worship as you were created.
